The VPN client driver has encountered an error. There are a few solutions to fix this issue. (The first solution is to replace your antivirus). To do these you need to: Uninstall McAfee antivirus or any other antivirus that is installed on your system. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus. "The VPN client driver has encountered an error" The following screen messages may appear when this problem occurs: (These on a Windows XP Home Edition system) The information below was related to a corrupt driver database and was fixed by renaming and deleting the affected catroot2 directory. Got the update to Windows 10 Pro TP build 10049, and this has broken both the AnyConnect client (again) and VMWare workstation. Previous build both were working Tried the uninstall of the AnyConnect client and re-install (ver. 3.1.06079 and 3.1.07021) both in 'native mode and compatibility (windows 8), with no luck.
Hoping someone can give me some direction here. My company uses AnyConnect with the Cisco Trojan (CSD) which has stopped me from being able to get OpenConnect to work correctly so I have resorted to the Cisco AnyConnect App. I was able to fix this issue today. I first did the recommended Device Manager check for extra Cisco network adapters, but found none. After that, I went to the properties for the Cisco network adapter under Network and sharing center, disabled IPv6, and switched from static to dynamic in IPv4. Check the DisplayName data value. On my installation, it had a bit of inf information before the actual name. So deleted that info, and was left with just Cisco AnyConnect VPN Virtual Miniport Adapter for Windows x64. Fired up the VPN Client and connected without any problems . The Cisco team has commented on my post, this is what they wrote:
I'm getting the same errors though my message history is a bit different. I wanted to try the fix /u/jamaleise suggested, however I don't see a Cisco Adapter in my Network and Sharing Center. It appears that there's an issue with the creation of the adapter.

Hey Allen, As another side note, I have also seen antivirus products affect the way the client works in Windows 7 up. In particiular, we saw the scanning engine of Microsoft’s System Center Endpoint Protection prompt a lot of issues with the Cisco VPN clients.
